Job summary

Heritage Elementary School in Lynchburg, Virginia seeks an Instructional Assistant - Special Education (One-on-One) to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a classroom teacher. This is a 10-month, full-time role with benefits.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, 60 college credits or an Associate’s Degree or ParaPro assessment, and preferred experience working with children. The position involves assisting with routines and behavior management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Sixty (60) college credits from an accredited institution or an Associate’s Degree or completion of the ParaPro assessment.
• Prior experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher with duties and specialized tasks to support instructional objectives.
• Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Provide programmed practice activities and monitor student progress.
• Assist with bus loading/unloading and supervise during meals, recess, and transitions.
• Maintain student behavior standards and ensure safety in the classroom.

Education
