Job summary

Lexington County School District One Pelion Elementary School seeks a Special Education One-to-One Assistant to support students with disabilities under IDEA. The role works under the supervision of a certified teacher, aiding physical, emotional and academic development and assisting with IEP goals and classroom activities.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus 60 college credits or an associate degree or a ParaPro/ParaPathways passing score.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent.
At least two years of study (60 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education; or
An associate's degree (or higher); or
A passing score on the ParaPro or ParaPathways Assessment.

Responsibilities

Under close supervision of a certified teacher, supports individuals or small groups of students identified as disabled under IDEA.
Provides physical, emotional and academic support to gain maximum benefit from special education programs.
Assists with classroom activities and implements behavior interventions under teacher direction.
Keeps students on task and assists with instructional materials and records as needed.
Assists with data collection, progress notes and parent communications under supervision.
