Responsibilities

• Assist in the instruction of students with disabilities under the direct supervision of a fully certified teacher.
• Provide instructional assistance to meet educational requirements for students with various disabilities.
• Prepare instructional materials in collaboration with the teacher.
• Assist with supplemental and follow-up activities to instructional content.
• Participate in parent/guardian conferences when requested.
• Maintain a good rapport with parent/guardian.
• Promote student interaction by including non-disabled peers under teacher supervision.
• Assist with modifications and accommodations to support student success.
• Assist in communication to staff, students and parent/guardian.
• Maintain classroom order by enforcing district behavior codes and procedures.
• Assist with classroom record keeping as directed by the teacher.
• Operate classroom equipment with appropriate training (computers, projectors, LCDs).
• Arrange and maintain bulletin board displays.
• Supervise lunchroom, hall, and playground areas as assigned.
• Assist with food preparation and cleanup during snack or lunch if applicable.
• Provide one-on-one assistance to students when assigned.
• Assist students with personal care needs under supervision (toileting, dressing, feeding).
• Follow district and building rules and negotiated contracts; uphold confidentiality.
• Report all personal absences to the building principal or designee.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
