Job summary

Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington (GLOW) is seeking an Exceptional Children's Teacher Assistant (part-time) to provide individualized support to a student with special needs under the EC Coordinator. This role involves assisting with personal care, implementing IEP goals, and supporting the classroom team.

Hours are 8:00am-2:00pm (not to exceed 29 hours/week), 10-month August–May, with a compensation of $16.07 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching and supporting in the appropriate subject area.
• Ability to foster a warm, inclusive classroom environment.
• Ability to implement rigorous lessons aligned to NC standards.
• Awareness of educational issues for diverse adolescent girls from high-need communities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in devising and adapting strategies to support the student’s learning and monitor progress toward IEP goals.
• Support personal care and maintain student safety and dignity.
• Document and report student progress to the EC team.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and staff to support the student’s success.
