Mercer County Special Services School District is seeking a One-on-One Assistant to support a student throughout the day in a New Jersey school setting. This non-certificated staff member works under the direction of classroom teachers and certified staff to promote academic achievement, behavioral growth, socio-emotional relationships, and personal development.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

The One-on-One Assistant is assigned to provide support for a child who requires assistance throughout the day. The One-on-One assistant is a non-certificated staff member who assists students under the direction of the classroom teachers and/or certified staff to promote the student's academic achievement, behavioral growth, socio-emotional relationships, and personal development. The One-on-One Assistant must adapt to the particular educational/therapeutic needs of the student(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of a high school diploma or a high school equivalency certification, as well as the physical and mental capacity to perform the major responsibilities of the job assignment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Able to communicate effectively with students and staff

Physical Requirements

The employee must demonstrate physical strength, agility, and energy to perform essential job functions and to ensure health, welfare, and safety of all students and of self. The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the employee to perform the essential functions of the job: sitting, standing, reaching, walking, lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, finger dexterity, carrying, repetitive motions, speaking, listening, and visual acuity. The employee must lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds.

Salary

• Following the established MCSSETA Salary Guide Step 3 $28,703.39-$41,341.39
