Gloucester Township School District All Buildings in Gloucester Township, New Jersey is seeking a Paraeducator - One-to-One Aide to support a student in the classroom.

Responsibilities include hand-over-hand assistance, maintaining focus during activities, supervising cafeteria and recess, preparing instructional materials, and helping with toileting, dressing, feeding, and supervision as directed by the teacher.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be a high school graduate, or hold the equivalency of one.

Responsibilities

• Observe student and protect confidentiality.
• Assist in classroom (hand-over-hand handwriting).
• Supervise the special area teacher as needed.
• Help clean up after activities promptly.
• Assist student with toileting/dressing when needed.
• Assist student with feeding when needed.
• Supervise cafeteria and recess.
• Supervise students in teacher planned activities.
• Prepare instructional materials (art).
• Help keep students on task during programs.
• Supervise and assist students in inclusive classroom.
• Provide clerical assistance (duplicate materials).
• Reinforce appropriate behavior per teacher's plan.
• Listen to and read with students.
• Maintain a positive attitude.
• Assist in teaching in small groups or one-on-one.

PARAEDUCATOR- (One-on-One Aide)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1. Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• 2. Be a high school graduate, or hold the equivalency of one.

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal - Director of Special Services

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Closely observe your one-on-one student because when IEP meetings are held, your input on the students is important. Respect students’ confidentiality.
• 2. Assist student(s) in the classroom for example: hand over hand for handwriting, make sure the student is focused during circle time to limit behaviors so that the circle time can run smoothly and effectively.
• 3. Supervise and assist the special area teacher if needed.
• 4. After each activity you will help in the process of clean up in the least amount of time so that the next activity can be started effectively and quickly.
• 5. Assist student(s) with toileting/dressing if needed.
• 6. Assist student(s) with feeding if needed.
• 7. Supervise cafeteria and recess to supervise the needs of the student(s).
• 8. Supervise student(s) in teacher planned activities.
• 9. Prepare instruction materials. (art materials).
• 10. Help to keep student(s) on task for the programs taught by the teacher.
• 11. Supervise and assist students when included in the general education classroom.
• 12. Provided clerical assistance (duplicate materials)
• 13. Reinforcing appropriate behavior in accordance with the teacher’s plan.
• 14. Listen and read to students.
• 15. Maintaining a positive attitude.
• 16. Assisting in teaching in the classroom. (small groups, one-on-one instruction)

COMPENSATION:

• LEVEL 1- High School Diploma -$16.50 per hour
• LEVEL 2 - Passing Score on Para-Pro Assessment - $17.00 per hour
• LEVEL 3 - Associates Degree or 60 college credits - $17.50 per hour
• LEVEL 4 - Bachelor's Degree or Higher - $18.50 per hour

Specialized Program One to One Aides Compensation

• LEVEL 1- High School Diploma -$18.75 per hour
• LEVEL 2 - Passing Score on Para-Pro Assessment - $19.40 per hour
• LEVEL 3 - Associates Degree or 60 college credits - $20.40 per hour
• LEVEL 4 - Bachelor's Degree or Higher - $21.40 per hour

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

10 Months

VACATION:

There is no vacation time allotted to this position.

EVALUATION:

To be evaluated semi-annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
