Job summary

YMCA of Orange County is seeking Part-Time Youth Development Staff to support children grades TK–6 in the San Gabriel Valley area. The role involves mentoring students ages 5-12 through structured activities (STEM, arts, homework) and fostering a warm, inclusive environment.

You will model core values—Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility—and contribute to positive social-emotional growth. Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 1:30pm–6:00pm.

Qualifications

• Minimum Age: 18+ years old.
• Experience: 6 months experience working with children preferred in after-school, camp, or daycare setting.
• Education: 48 college units or passing proficiency exam prior to hire for non-licensed/ASES programs.

Responsibilities

• Mentor children (ages 5-12) through curriculum-aligned activities (STEM, arts, homework).
• Provide attentive service, warmth, and a welcoming environment for all participants and parents.
• Model Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility daily.
• Create lasting change through consistent presence and positive social-emotional growth for each child.
