Job summary

MedVet is seeking a Medical Oncology Veterinary Technician to join our clinical team in New Orleans. The role focuses on administering chemotherapy, maintaining meticulous records, and communicating effectively with clients and staff.

Candidates should have or be willing to pursue State Registered Veterinary Technician licensure. The position requires flexibility with schedules and a compassionate approach to patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Requires prior veterinary experience; oncology experience preferred.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, dosages, CRIs, conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours; ability to work additional hours when needed.
• Excellent patient care and compassionate interaction with clients and pets.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy with precise venipuncture.
• Coordinate and manage client communications by phone and email.
• Manage appointments and schedule additional visits as needed.
• Accurate and thorough documentation in medical records.

We are looking for:

Medical Oncology Veterinary Technician

Proposed Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7a-5p

Have you lost a loved pet to cancer and have a heart to help others avoid the same heartache? This team develops strong bonds with our patients and clients, requiring compassion and excellent patient care.Our Medical Oncology technicians will develop excellent venipuncture skills, have high attention to detail and will gain experience in chemotherapy treatments.

What you’ll do:

• Administration of chemotherapy, requiring excellent venipuncture skills


• Coordinate and manage client communication via phone and email


• Manage appointments, schedule additional appointments


• Accurate and thorough documentation in medical records

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred


• Prior veterinary experience required, previous oncology experience desired


• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)


• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary


• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
