MedVet in Chicago, IL is seeking a Medical Oncology Veterinary Assistant to support our fast-paced oncology team. You will assist with chemotherapy administration, coordinate client communications, and help manage patient records with compassion and precision.

The role requires prior veterinary experience, strong calculation skills for drug dosages, and flexible hours. You will thrive in a collaborative environment, delivering high-quality care to patients and clear communication with clients

• Oncology experience desired.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform drug calculations accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assist with chemotherapy treatments and venipuncture as needed.
• Coordinate and manage client communication by phone and email.
• Manage appointments, histories, invoicing, and discharges.
• Document thoroughly in medical records.

We are looking for:

Medical Oncology Veterinary Assistant

Initial Hiring Range: $24-$29/hour based on skillset and experience

Our Medical Oncology assistants thrive in a fast-paced environment, can multi-task, have high attention to detail and will gain experience in chemotherapy treatments.

What you’ll do:

• Assist with chemotherapy treatments, requiring excellent venipuncture skills
• Coordinate and manage client communication via phone and email
• Manage appointments, obtain histories, invoicing, patient discharges, scheduling
• Accurate and thorough documentation in medical records

Who you are:

• Prior veterinary experience required, previous oncology experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
