The Oncology Triage Nurse serves as a key clinical resource supporting both Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology practices through telephone and electronic (MyChart/in-basket) triage. This role is responsible for responding to patient calls, symptom concerns, treatment-related questions, and electronic inquiries in a timely, efficient, and compassionate manner, ensuring patients receive appropriate guidance and care coordination throughout their oncology journey. Working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members, the Oncology Triage Nurse assesses patient needs, prioritises concerns based on clinical urgency, and facilitates appropriate interventions. Utilizing clinical expertise, critical thinking, and a thorough understanding of provider practice patterns, this clinician independently manages routine patient care needs within established protocols while identifying situations that require provider consultation or escalation. The role is instrumental in promoting patient safety, enhancing the patient experience, and ensuring seamless communication and continuity of care across Radiation and Medical Oncology services.
