Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a licensed social worker to join our oncology team on a full-time temporary basis. You will provide professional social work services, including screening, counseling, resource navigation, and patient advocacy for patients and caregivers, coordinating with internal and community resources.

You will collaborate with Psychiatry and Psychology, support transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings, and promote culturally sensitive care.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited graduate school.
• Licensed Social Worker Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC) or Licensed Social Worker Associate - Advanced (LSWAA) through Washington State DOH.
• Strong assessment and crisis intervention skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients/families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Counseling individuals and families.

Responsibilities

• Supports the mental and physical health care of an oncology patient caseload in collaboration with oncology, psychiatry, psychology and other team members.
• Conducts distress, mental health, and substance use screenings to inform care planning and engagement.
• Provides therapeutic emotional support through brief therapy, counseling, grief and loss counseling, and crisis intervention.
• Collaborates with Psychiatry and Psychology on education, medication management support, and treatment tracking.
• Coordinates referrals and patient navigation to internal and external resources.
• Advocates for culturally diverse patients and assists in addressing disruptive behavior.
