Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking an experienced registered nurse for the Jacobs Medical Center 5FG Medical Oncology/Palliative Care Progressive Care Unit. The unit collaborates across disciplines to provide oncology care including chemotherapy and biotherapy and focuses on advanced symptom management.

The RN will practice autonomously within ANA standards, contribute to a holistic patient care plan, and work within a supportive multidisciplinary team that values empathy and excellence in care.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Chemotherapy Certification at time of hire or commitment to initiate the certification process within 6 months of hire date and to achieve certification within one (1) year of hire date.
• Must have a minimum of two (2) years recent experience in inpatient oncology.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and empathy to all staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous nursing actions consistent with ANA Standards of Practice.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to deliver oncology and palliative care.
• Assess patient needs and implement nursing interventions; evaluate results.
