Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking an experienced RN for an inpatient Oncology/Palliative Care unit at Jacobs Medical Center 5FG. The nurse will provide autonomous nursing care, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure high-quality symptom management for oncology patients.

Requirements include an RN license in California, BLS/CPR and ACLS, and chemotherapy certification with a commitment to achieve certification within one year. Minimum two years in inpatient oncology preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six months of hire date.
• Chemotherapy Certification at time of hire or commitment to initiate the certification process within 6 months of hire date and to achieve certification within one year of hire date.
• Must have a minimum of two years recent experience in inpatient oncology (within the last 2 years).
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.
• Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results.
• Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
