Job summary

Shady Grove Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Med Surg Oncology unit. The role entails educating patients and families, mentoring junior staff, and upholding Adventist HealthCare values and ANA standards.

The position requires Maryland RN licensure, NCLEX, and BLS certification with specialty-area ACLS/PALS/NRP as needed. Expect day shifts, 36 hours per week, and rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Passing score on NCLEX.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience.
• Current Maryland State nursing license.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by specialty area.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients and families through the continuum of care and mentor junior staff.
• Serve as role models for Level I nurses and support best practices using electronic resources.
• Demonstrate professionalism and adhere to ANA standards and Adventist HealthCare values.
• Develop a plan of care based on patient population and changing conditions.
• Mentor students, colleagues and team members in patient-centered care.
• Conduct purposeful rounds from patient and family perspectives.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in evidence-based practice changes.
