Job summary

Riceland Healthcare seeks an Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Texas. You will provide compassionate, patient-centered cancer care, perform comprehensive assessments, administer treatments, and educate patients and families throughout the treatment journey.

You will collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team, monitor responses and adverse effects, and ensure safe, effective care in a fast-paced multidisciplinary setting, maintaining strict documentation and HIPAA

Qualifications

• BSN degree required.
• Current, unrestricted Texas RN license or eligibility.
• BLS certification.
• Knowledge of chemotherapy administration and oncology nursing practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document findings in EMR.
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, blood products and supportive therapies.
• Monitor patients before, during and after treatment for response and adverse effects.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and self-care.
• Coordinate care with oncologists, NP, pharmacists and lab staff.
• Perform venipuncture and support vascular access devices as needed.
• Assist with diagnostic procedures, treatment planning, and follow-up care.
• Provide symptom and pain management and emotional support.
• Recognize oncologic emergencies and respond per protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, treatments and communications.
• Contribute to quality improvement and infection control compliance.

Join our team as an Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) and make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients navigating their cancer treatment journey.

In this role, you'll provide compassionate, high-quality care, conduct comprehensive assessments, administer treatments, monitor patient progress, educate patients and families, and work closely with physicians and the healthcare team to deliver safe, effective, and truly patient-centered oncology care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, obtain patient health histories, evaluate patient needs, and document clinical findings accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, supportive therapies, and other prescribed medications in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after treatment for therapeutic response, adverse reactions, and treatment-related complications, promptly recognizing changes in condition and notifying the appropriate provider.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care while advocating for patients and families and helping address their clinical concerns throughout the treatment process.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, symptom management, self-care, and follow-up instructions, while assessing understanding and reinforcing education as needed.
• Coordinate patient care with oncologists, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
• Perform venipuncture, collect laboratory specimens, and assist with procedures and maintenance of vascular access devices as required.
• Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with diagnostic procedures, treatment planning, follow-up care, and supportive oncology services.
• Provide symptom management, pain management, supportive care, and emotional support to patients throughout active treatment and survivorship.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to oncologic emergencies, infusion reactions, and other acute clinical situations following established clinical protocols.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation of patient assessments, treatments, education, and clinical communications in the EMR.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives while maintaining compliance with organizational policies, HIPAA requirements, infection prevention standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas (or eligibility to obtain prior to employment).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of chemotherapy administration, oncology nursing practices, and patient safety standards preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary clinical environment.
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider certification preferred.
• Experience working in an outpatient oncology clinic, infusion center, or hospital oncology unit.
• Experience caring for patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive oncology treatments.
• Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice, patient education, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
