Texas Oncology in Baytown, TX is seeking an Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This role supports a Monday–Friday schedule with no weekends, holidays, or on‑call requirements, and can be level I, II, or Senior based on experience.

The RN will provide professional nursing care in an oncology/hematology clinic, administer therapies under physician supervision, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support patient needs.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred.
• RN license and current state nursing registration.
• Current BLS certification and ongoing continuing education.
• Entry level: 0–3 years nursing; oncology experience preferred.
• Level II requires 3+ years nursing experience; oncology preferred.
• Level Senior requires 5+ years nursing with oncology experience; certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care per standards.
• Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching/instructional material.
• Prepare and administer therapies under physician direction.
• Administer medications and blood products with correct dosage/route/time.
• Obtain pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms prior to therapy.
• Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient labs and protocol adherence.
• Perform venipuncture, port access, and manage central lines as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of care and treatments.
• Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.

Education

Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred

RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Must maintain continuing education requirements

Entry level - 0-3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred

Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred

Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, including at least one year in oncology strongly preferred

Oncology certification preferred

What does the Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) do?

Under minimal supervision,the Registered Nurseprovides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:

• Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
• Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.
• Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
• Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
• Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
• Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management
• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
• Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
• Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.

Qualifications

Education/Training

Level I

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
• RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
