Job summary

Rochester General Hospital in Potsdam, NY seeks an Oncology Referral Specialist to act as the first contact for patients, families, and referral sources. You will coordinate with health-system processes to ensure timely evaluation and referrals, tracking all referrals and obtaining necessary authorization.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in a health care setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide telephone and in person screening and initial contact with referral sources and potential patients.
• Coordinate the intake and referral process, determine priority needs for assessment.
• Coordinate testing with physician, patient, facility and payer; obtain third-party approval.
• Obtain procedure and diagnosis codes to properly authorize/pre-certify testing.
• Complete pre-certification/authorization with the patient's insurance company providing any necessary documentation.
• Notify patients of the scheduled procedures and instructions.
• Monitor attendance of referred appointments and follow-ups.
