St. Luke’s University Health Network in Lehighton, PA is seeking a Medical Assistant, Practice Operations to support the practice team and deliver patient care.

Responsibilities include pre-visit planning, preparing patients, assisting with exams, and maintaining records, while following state guidelines and safety protocols. The role emphasizes teamwork and quality improvement within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• One year of clinical experience OR graduate of Medical Assistant program required.
• BLS/CPR: Current or within 60 days of hire.
• Customer service experience is strongly preferred.

Responsabilités

• Reviews patient records pre-visit and updates with recent test results and notes.
• Pre-charts patient information up to five days before appointment and communicates with Care Team.
• Prepares patients for examination: estimates vital signs, updates meds, allergies, history; collects demographic data.
• Keeps exam rooms clean; maintains supplies; handles instrument cleaning and safe disposal of waste.
• Coordinates with providers and Care Team regarding hospital discharge, ED visits, labs, tests, and referrals.
• Participates in department activities, meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Disposes bio-hazardous waste per protocol and maintains vaccine temperature logs.
• Manages inventory and ordering of medical supplies including vaccines; stocks rooms.
• Performs other administrative tasks (check-in/out, opening/closing procedures) as needed.
• Offers improvement suggestions to Practice Managers and Providers.
