Job summary

Lone Star Oncology in Kyle, Texas seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician to support medication preparation, inventory, and regulatory compliance in a clinical setting. Under supervision, you will prepare and mix chemotherapy drugs, manage the Nucleus dispensing system, and coordinate with nursing and purchasing to ensure timely patient care.

Some travel to educational meetings may be required. PTCB certification or registration is required.

Qualifications

• PTCB certification or Pharmacy Technician registration is required.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to educational and research meetings is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and mix chemotherapy drugs and solutions under supervision and in compliance with state regulations.
• Maintain proficiency with the Nucleus medication dispensing system and ensure accurate medication dispensing and par-level management.
• Review next-day orders with nursing staff to anticipate special medication needs.
• Order, stock, and track medical supplies and medications, ensuring appropriate inventory levels and minimal waste.
• Perform daily and annual maintenance of chemotherapy hoods and manage ambulatory pump documentation.
• Handle biohazardous waste disposal safely and compliantly, including recordkeeping and coordination with Accounting.
• Maintain required records for compassionate drug programs, clinical trials, biohazard waste, and related pharmacy processes.
• Ensure compliance with all federal/state laws, patient privacy regulations, OSHA standards, and organizational policies.
• Assist in training new pharmacy technicians and nursing staff on chemotherapy preparation and Nucleus system workflows.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, supervisors, and pharmaceutical representatives as needed to support patient care and operational needs.
• Support operations across multiple locations as needed and work overtime when required.
• Participate in mandatory meetings, including annual Safety/OSHA training.
