Job summary

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is seeking an Oncology Pharmacist for its Hillman Cancer Center Pharmacy in Shadyside/Pittsburgh, PA. This regular full-time role supports the oncology care team with dose adjustments, pharmacotherapy decisions, and education, working Monday through Friday daylight hours with no holidays or weekends.

The successful candidate will have an ACPE-accredited PharmD or BS in Pharmacy, current licensure in the practicing state, and oncology experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy.
• BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
• Current licensure as a Pharmacist in the practicing state.
• No prior experience required; pharmacist experience preferred.
• Oncology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and evaluate physician orders and prescriptions to prepare, calculate, and dispense appropriate medication dosage forms for inpatient and outpatient treatment.
• Collaborate with oncology health care team to optimize dose adjustments and supportive care.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and provide cost-effective pharmacotherapy.
• Provide drug information and educational programs to healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians, aides, interns and other staff involved in pharmaceutical care.
• Adhere to regulatory requirements and hospital quality policies in pharmaceutical practice.
• Communicate with physicians and nurses for clarification of orders.
• Utilize hospital information systems for pharmacy operations.
• Prepare and dispense intravenous admixtures using sterile technique as required.
