Saint Alphonsus Health System seeks an Oncology Pharmacist for the Cancer Institute to manage chemotherapy and related medications, review orders, and provide patient education under a collaborative practice agreement.

The role emphasizes ensuring safe, effective, personalized pharmaceutical care, collaboration with oncologists, nurses, and other professionals, and ongoing clinical support for cancer patients.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy or B.S. in Pharmacy is required; residency strongly preferred.
• Must be licensed as a Pharmacist in the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy.
• Must obtain license from the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum of three years of experience in a relevant pharmacy setting; residency may be accepted.
• Board certification is highly encouraged.
• Knowledge of oncology care standards is required.
• Within 6 months of hire, BLS certification is required (ACLS/PALS may be accepted).

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in the compounding and dispensing of chemotherapy and other antineoplastics.
• Directs patient care, patient education, and participates in clinical decision making.
• Develops institutional guidelines and makes evidence-based decisions to improve patient care.
• Prescribes supportive care medications and orders labs under a collaborative practice agreement.
• Mentors staff and serves as a clinical resource for providers in medical oncology.
• Ensures safe and cost-effective preparation and handling of oncology medications.
• Demonstrates ability to care for all assigned age groups as applicable.
