Job summary

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist with daily living activities, procedures, and basic therapies on a 5800 oncology unit. This part-time role provides patient care under RN supervision and supports routine nursing tasks.

Responsibilities include assisting with blood glucose, vital signs, I&O, specimen collection, Foley care, and basic dressings as needed. Will require training and credentialing per unit standards; BLS/CPR required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year healthcare experience OR enrollment in PT/OT/PA program with clinical rotations OR a health sciences bachelor’s degree.
• Advanced skills listed may be required (phlebotomy, IV removal, Foley removal, arrhythmia basics).
• Successful completion of UPMC Patient Care Technician class preferred.
• EMT or Paramedic training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living and procedures.
• Report changes in patient status to the RN.
• Assist with nursing core tasks: blood glucose, vitals, I&O, specimen collection, Foley care.
• May apply simple dressings and assist with other unit needs.
