Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital’s Oncology Unit seeks a Patient Care Technician to assist in the care of patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and other cancers. This full-time day shift role emphasizes observation, collaboration with nurses, and supporting admissions/discharges.

Requirements include a high school diploma and BLS within 90 days; various certifications or enrollment in a clinical program are eligible.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Certification/Licensure required; BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum Requirements include multiple eligible certifications such as CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps School, or EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, or enrollment in RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical program.
• Experience: One year of prior health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the supervision of a professional nurse and assist with admissions and discharges.
• Observe patients and report changes in condition to the nurse.
• Support the unit operations in the Oncology Unit and ensure patient safety.
