Job summary

Zangmeister Cancer Center is seeking a qualified patient services nurse to answer incoming calls, triage concerns with nursing assessment, and route inquiries to the appropriate clinician. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and home health staff to ensure timely and accurate information for patients.

Qualifications

• RN license in state of employment.
• Current CPR and BLS certifications.
• Valid driver's license and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed.
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer patient calls using nursing assessment to determine urgency and routing.
• Maintain daily log of calls and document decisions.
• Pull patient charts to accompany messages for nurses and doctors.
• Discuss steps with physicians or nurse practitioners to ensure proper patient care.
• Discuss abnormal labs or tests to determine further orders.
• Handle hospice and home health inquiries and document physician decisions.
• Contact emergency departments with explanations and contact numbers.
• Process prescription refill requests per company procedure.
• Work at multiple company locations as needed; overtime may be required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
