Job summary

Tennessee Oncology is seeking an experienced Triage Nurse to support our oncology patients. You will manage calls, portal messages, and triage pathways, assess symptoms, and coordinate care with physicians and the scheduling team to arrange same-day or future visits.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate’s or Diploma in Nursing with TN RN licensure. Oncology/telephone triage experience and strong communication are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or Diploma in Nursing is required.
• Current RN licensure in TN or a compact state is required.
• 2+ years of oncology and/or telephone triage experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Addresses patient calls, portal messages, tasks and emails with triage via TN ONC pathways.
• Assesses urgency of symptoms and manages care to prevent unnecessary ED visits.
• Collaborates with physicians via EMR or phone to discuss patient needs beyond standing orders.
• Coordinates triage with Front Office, Nursing, and Scheduling to set up same-day or future appointments.
• Provides patient and caregiver education and ensures understanding of instructions and plan.
• Counsels patients on side effects and referrals, and communicates lab/test results after provider review.
• Maintains accurate charting in the EMR and ensures adherence to protocols.
