Job summary

The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston partners with patients and families to guide them through the cancer journey using evidence-based nursing care. The ONN assesses needs, provides education, coordinates resources, and supports transitions from active treatment to survivorship or palliative care.

The ideal candidate is a registered nurse with oncology experience, completion of ONRP or equivalent, and a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN strongly preferred.
• 1 year of RN experience; ambulatory and/or oncology experience preferred.
• Completion of the Oncology Nurse Residency Program (ONRP) or 1 year of recent oncology nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Participates in day-to-day operations of the program including patient education and call triage.
• Participates in program evaluation and development of strategic goals.
• Participates in QA/QI projects for the program.
• Supports the research activities of the program.
• Delivers expert clinical care through evidenced-based practice with patients and families.
• Manages nursing care for a defined group of patients within the program.
