Job summary

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston seeks an Oncology Nurse Navigator to guide patients and families through the cancer journey, using oncology-specific knowledge to assess needs, educate, coordinate care, and facilitate timely, quality psychosocial support.

The ONN works within an interdisciplinary team, delivering patient-centered care, participating in program development and research, and ensuring ethical, culturally competent practice across all cancer care phases.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with MA license or eligible.
• Completion of Oncology Nurse Residency Program (ONRP) or 1 year of RN experience; oncology/ambulatory preferred.
• Current BLS (ACLS optional).

Responsibilities

• Participates in day-to-day operations of the program including patient education and call triage.
• Participates in program evaluation and development of strategic goals consistent with DFCI’s mission and professional values.
• Participates in QA/QI projects for the program.
• Supports the research activities of the program.
• Delivers expert clinical care through evidence-based practice partnerships with patients, families and colleagues.
• Assumes nursing care responsibilities for a defined group of patients within the program, including assessment, education, coordination and documentation.
