Job summary

UCI Health in Irvine, CA seeks an experienced RN in Oncology to provide direct and indirect patient care in the clinic, following the nursing process and serving as the primary contact for oncology patients.

You will educate patients and families on cancer care, diagnostic procedures, chemotherapy and the plan of care; coordinate pre-procedure to follow-up and support clinic faculty to grow referrals.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required for external candidates.
• Minimum 6 months oncology nursing experience or 1 year with cancer basics training.
• Strong English written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process for oncology patients.
• Educate patients and families about cancer care, procedures, medication/chemotherapy and the plan of care.
• Coordinate continuum of care: pre-procedure, chemotherapy, hospitalization, discharge planning, and follow-ups.
• Support clinic faculty and assist with activities to grow the practice and referrals.
