Job summary

UCI Health, a premier academic health system in Orange County, seeks an experienced registered nurse to join the Chao Comprehensive Cancer Center. The role requires independent patient care using the nursing process and serving as the primary contact for oncology patients.

You will educate patients and families about cancer care, procedures, and chemotherapy, coordinate pre-procedure to discharge planning, and support clinic faculty during patient encounters while ensuring continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Must have minimum 6 months RN oncology inpatient or outpatient experience or 1 year clinical experience with cancer basics class within previous year.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Demonstrated practice with chemotherapy agents.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care based on the nursing process for the Chao Comprehensive Cancer Center.
• Serve as the primary contact for oncology patients.
• Educate patients and families about cancer care, diagnostic procedures, medications, and chemotherapy.
• Ensure the continuum of care from pre-procedure through hospitalization, discharge planning and follow-up in physician offices.
• Support the faculty in clinic for every patient care session.
