Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, NC is seeking a GI Medical Oncology Nurse Coordinator to provide oncology-specific clinical support, education, and care coordination for patients and families. You will work with an interprofessional team in the clinic and have some work-from-home time available.

The role emphasizes adherence to oncology care standards, coordination of care transitions, and efficient patient access to services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required for external applicants.
• Associate degree in nursing for internal applicants.
• 1 year of oncology experience preferred.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including nurse triage, schedulers, and other support services.
• Facilitate obtaining additional records, slides, scans needed for new patient evaluations and return patients if not in Care Everywhere.
• Route return appointment requests in clinic to front desk as directed by MD/APP.
• Check through clinic visits and ensure all patients have appropriate orders.
• Coordinate outside labs/scans with other providers.
• Coordinate chemotherapy schedules and teaching with clinic pharmacists.
