Job summary

Compass Oncology, the largest multi-specialty medical oncology practice in the Pacific Northwest, is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our Radiation team at the Cancer Center in Clackamas (East Cancer Center). This full-time, 40-hour-per-week role involves rooming patients, taking vitals, and coordinating care with physicians.

Under direct supervision you will assist with exams and procedures, maintain patient flow, and handle a mix of clinical and clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Current CPR certification required.
• 1-3 years of medical assistant or nursing assistant experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
• Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
• Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections.
• Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Processes instruments and equipment as needed.
• Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
• Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
• Schedules patient tests, procedures and hospital admissions and follow-ups.
• Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
• Performs other administrative duties as requested.
