Job summary

Maryland Oncology Hematology is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinicians in a busy oncology/hematology clinic. The role focuses on patient care, assisting exams, and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

The position requires a high school diploma, possible Medical Assistant certificate, and 0-3 years of experience. BCLS certification is required within 3 months of hire. The team values patient care and compliance in a dynamic, multi-location setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
• Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Record patient data prior to visits including vital signs and medications.
• Obtain necessary patient records prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
• Administer injections as delegated by RN or physician.
• Maintain room disinfection protocols.
• Answer patient calls and coordinate referrals to physician or nurse.
• Phone in prescriptions and relay messages to physicians and nurses.
• Inform physician of patient reschedules and no-shows.
• Perform administrative duties as requested.
