Job summary

The Cancer & Hematology Centers in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Medical Assistant to support oncology Nurse Navigators, coordinating tests, treatments and follow-ups for cancer care. You will be a key liaison among patients, families and the care team, helping reduce barriers and improve the patient experience.

Responsibilities include scheduling, outreach, and clerical duties within an EMR-driven workflow.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required and medical assistant program graduate.
• CMA/CCMA/RMA certified or eligible preferred.
• Experience in oncology settings is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Nurse Navigators in coordinating diagnostic testing, consultations, treatment appointments and follow up.
• Track patients through established care pathways to ensure timely progression from diagnosis to treatment.
• Conduct patient outreach regarding appointments and care plan follow-up.
• Identify barriers to care such as transportation or insurance and communicate to the Nurse Navigator.
• Provide clerical support and manage EMR tasks to maintain workflow accuracy.
