Job summary

UC San Diego Health's North County Oncology clinics seek a Medical Assistant to support oncology patients across Encinitas, Vista, Rancho Bernardo and Murrieta. The role involves patient care under supervision, scheduling, billing and EMR tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Minimum qualifications include CMA/MA certification, BART/BLS, 2+ years of MA experience, and strong terminology. Infusion/oncology and Epic experience are preferred; travel between clinics is expected.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
• Two (2) or more years of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Medical terminology.
• Previous experience and knowledge in direct patient care and use of EMR.
• Online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.
• Strong ability to take initiative, prioritize demands, and work in a team environment.
• Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision of the nurse manager and clinic staff, performs patient care duties within the scope of California regulations and Joint Commission standards.
• Schedules patient appointments and manages associated patient system screens.
• Performs accurate billing and handles environmental care functions, equipment and supply management.
• Maintains clean, disinfected environments and supports other duties as assigned.
