Job summary

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Washington, PA is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support our oncology clinic with both clinical and administrative tasks. You will assist physicians, take vitals, register patients, schedule tests, and maintain exam rooms to ensure smooth patient flow.

This hands-on role emphasizes accurate records, HIPAA compliance, and compassionate patient care, with a Monday–Friday schedule and no evenings or weekends.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient medical records per HIPAA and other regulations
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, and prepare/ manage charts
• Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments, and maintain infection control
• Check schedules and organize patient flow; accompany patients to exam rooms
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs; assist physicians
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Dept. of Health; maintain confidentiality
• Administer injectable medications and vaccines under supervision of a physician
