Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Oncology/Med Surg unit. This full-time night shift (approximately 6am to 6pm) supports licensed nurses by delivering direct patient care and assisting with admissions and discharges.

Required education includes a high school diploma or equivalent; BLS within 90 days of hire. Prior health care experience is preferred, with multiple CNA/NCMA/NCPCT options listed as acceptable credentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of prior health care experience preferred.
• Certifications listed in minimum requirements (CNA/NCMA/NCPCT/EMT, etc.) or equivalent training may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of a professional nurse.
• Assist with admissions and discharge processes.
• Observe patients and report changes in condition to the nurse.
• Adhere to patient safety practices under nursing direction.
