Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Chicago seeks a Medical Assistant for the Oncology Rapid Assessment Clinic (ORAC) at the Hyde Park campus. This 0.6 FTE, 24-hour-per-week role supports safe, efficient, patient-centered care in a fast-paced ambulatory oncology setting, working closely with RNs, APPs, physicians and the care team.

The MA will perform direct patient care, vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen handling, and documentation with a focus on education, teamwork and adaptability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Medical Assistant program with CMA credential preferred.
• CPR certification and phlebotomy experience required.
• Experience in community health settings is preferred.
• Completion of a recognized MA program (AHA/ARC) is required.
• Graduate CMA credential improves eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Know and practice Pride Values and patient-centered care definition.
• Perform direct patient care duties as assigned by RN/physician.
• Educate patients and families as delegated by RN/physician.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Perform tests such as pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and hemoccult.
• Document all aspects of patient care per hospital policies.
• Perform phlebotomy services.
• Assist with specimen collection, labeling and logging per standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
