Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Hyde Park is seeking a Medical Assistant to join the Medical Oncology clinic, supporting safe, efficient, patient-centered care in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.

The MA will work closely with RNs, APPs, physicians, and the care team in a 100% onsite role, requiring strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Schedule is days, M-F, ~9:00 AM–5:30 PM, with about 40 hours/week.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• CPR certification
• Phlebotomy experience
• Experience in community health setting
• Certified/registered Medical Assistant program (AHA/ARC)
• Graduate of CMA program (CMA Credential)

Responsibilities

• Know and practice the University of Chicago Medical Center’s Pride Values and Patient Centered Care Definition and Principles.
• Perform any or all duties involving direct patient care as assigned by the RN or physician within Nursing policies.
• Implement and document patient and family education as delegated by the RN or physician.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Perform tests (pregnancy tests, urinalysis, hemoccult) specific to the patient population.
• Document all aspects of patient care according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy services.
• Assist with collection of specimens, labeling and logging of specimens in compliance with hospital standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
