Job summary

Texas Oncology in Fort Worth is seeking a Pharmacy Technician (IV Admixture) to join our team. This full-time role supports our Fort Worth Cancer Center location and follows a Monday–Friday 8am–5pm schedule with no weekends or major holidays.

Under supervision, you will prepare IV admixtures, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with OSHA and department guidelines. The ideal candidate has IV experience, certifications, and a background in oncology pharmacy.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three to five years experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills.
• I.V. certification preferred.
• Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.

Responsibilities

• Assists with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a physician.
• Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
• Under direct supervision, admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines, and preparing all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.
• Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Assists in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintain records. Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs.
• Assists in cleaning hoods daily checking drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
• Assists in keeping accurate temperature logs, accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
• Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers.
• Provide support with inventory control of medications. Prepares labels. Files and prepares billing. Basic data entry into department automation. Ordering of medication and supplies as directed.
• Assist with required cleaning and maintenance of the admix area and the pharmacy department in general to minimize particle counts and improve overall sanitation.
