Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Pharmacy Technician (IV Admixture) to join our Fort Worth Cancer Center team. This full-time role, Monday–Friday 8am–5pm, offers no weekends, calls, or major holidays and includes IV compounding responsibilities under supervision.

Level 2 or Sr level depending on experience; IV skills required with potential IV certification and retail pharmacy background beneficial. Competitive benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.
• IV certification preferred.
• Retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
• ASHP accredited program or community college based program recommended.

Responsibilities

• Assists with preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a physician.
• Checks all orders for completeness of information; verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
• Under direct supervision, admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner per guidelines; prepares all drugs within OSHA guidelines.
• Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Assists in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintains records; disposes materials used when mixing IVs.
• Assists in cleaning hoods daily and checking drugs monthly for outdates and quality assurance.
• Maintains temperature logs and records on protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
• Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers.
• Provides support with inventory control of medications; prepares labels; files and prepares billing; basic data entry into department automation.
• Ordering of medication and supplies as directed.
• Assists with cleaning and maintenance of the admix area and pharmacy department to minimize particle counts and improve sanitation.
