Job summary

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician (Admixture) to join our oncology-focused team. You will prepare IV admixtures and chemotherapy under supervision, review orders, and verify insurance approvals to ensure safe patient care.

You will maintain sterile environments, perform precise dosage calculations, logs, and inventory, and travel between Ironwood locations as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of pharmacy experience with sterile compounding (IV admixture and/or chemotherapy).
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and pharmaceutical terminology.
• Strong math and dosage calculation skills.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on patient safety.
• Ability to interpret prescriptions and follow protocols accurately.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Oncology experience.
• PTCB certification preferred.
• Experience with inventory control, purchasing, and dispensing systems.
• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and compound medications including IV admixtures and chemotherapy.
• Review medication orders for accuracy, completeness, and authorization.
• Verify insurance approvals before preparing medications.
• Accurately calculate dosages and conversions.
• Maintain inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
• Keep detailed logs (temperature, controlled substances, protocol drugs, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety guidelines for medication handling and disposal.
• Clean and maintain sterile compounding environments (hoods, equipment).
• Stay current with new medications and protocols.
• Travel between locations as needed.
