Job summary

Ironwood Cancer & Research Centers in Gilbert, AZ is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician (Admixture) to join our team. You will prepare IV admixtures and chemotherapy, review orders, ensure insurance approvals, and maintain logs while traveling to other Ironwood locations as needed.

This role supports patient care in a leading cancer care network, requiring attention to detail, strong aseptic technique, and teamwork with the pharmacy staff.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of pharmacy experience, including sterile compounding.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and pharmaceutical terminology.
• Solid math and dosage calculation skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Ability to interpret prescriptions and follow protocols accurately.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with inventory control, purchasing, and dispensing systems.
• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and compound medications, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy.
• Review medication orders for accuracy, completeness, and authorization.
• Verify insurance approvals before preparing medications.
• Accurately calculate dosages and conversions.
• Maintain inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
• Keep detailed logs (temperature, controlled substances, protocol drugs, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and safety guidelines for medication handling and disposal.
• Clean and maintain sterile compounding environments (hoods, equipment).
• Stay current with new medications and protocols.
• Travel between locations as needed.
