Job summary

Frederick Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical duties and some administrative tasks under provider supervision. Primary responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, taking histories, recording vital signs, and assisting with procedures.

The MA will educate patients, support with testing and specimen collection, document thoroughly in the EHR, and ensure smooth patient flow. CPR certification and EMR experience are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified/licensed MA preferred or CNA/EMT/LPN; associates degree or higher in healthcare preferred.
• 1-2 years experience in medical practice or clinical setting.
• CPR Certification.
• Knowledge of EMR and MS Office; EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms to maintain patient flow.
• Take and record patient histories and medications; document in the EHR.
• Record vital signs and notify providers of concerns in the EHR.
• Assist physicians during exams and procedures; prepare for procedures and maintain sterile field.
• Perform minor procedures including dressing changes, phlebotomy, injections; remove staples as directed.
• Manage prescription refills and communicate with pharmacies; document in the EHR.
