Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking experienced Oncology Float Pool RNs to cover outpatient cancer services including clinics, BMT and Radiation Oncology. The role requires dynamic oncology nurses with infusion experience, strong communication with patients and families, and care coordination across multiple locations.

Float assignments include Encinitas, Vista, La Jolla Moores Cancer Center & KOP, Hillcrest, and Rancho Bernardo. Cover letter is recommended with application.

Qualifications

• Must graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BART or BLS by time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Minimum two (2) years of Hematology, Oncology, and/or BMT experience required.
• Experience in a fast-paced, high acuity outpatient environment with vulnerable patients.
• Care Coordination experience.
• Must have strong knowledge of cancer care, diagnoses, and treatment.
• Must have the ability to recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies using sound clinical judgment.
• Must have positive communication and telephone skills, with effective stress-management and coping abilities in a dynamic clinical setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills, consistently demonstrating empathy and kindness in all interactions with staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide oncology treatment and care coordination.
• Assist with infusion therapies and BMT prep.
• Educate patients and families on care plans.
• Respond to oncologic emergencies with clinical judgment.
