American Oncology Network, Inc. is seeking a Financial Counselor to act as the liaison between patients and the practice, coordinating payments, assistance, and monitoring balances.

The role includes ensuring insurance benefits are current in EMR and billing software, supporting pre-certification and prior authorization, and explaining financial responsibilities to patients in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of healthcare or clinical office experience.
• Experience with medical terminology and CPT/ICD codes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work across teams and handle sensitive financial information.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and coordinates pre-certification and prior authorization with insurance providers.
• Review patient schedules to establish financial responsibility for upcoming visits or treatments.
• Assess treatment plans for active insurance benefits and patient liability.
• Prepare service estimates and explain insurance benefits to patients.
• Assist patients with applications for financial assistance or grant programs.
• Collaborate with providers and staff to complete required forms and ensure timely processing.
