Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1–2 years in a medical setting or equivalent.
  • 2–3 years customer service in a high-volume, high-stress environment; at least 1 year hospital/medical office collections or financial counseling experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial evaluations for oncology patients referred by care teams.
  • Assess insurance coverage, financial hardship, and barriers to treatment adherence.
  • Educate patients about insurance benefits, deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, OOP maximums, and estimated costs.
  • Provide individualized financial counseling to help patients make informed treatment decisions.
  • Review and explain medical bills, insurance statements, and EOBs; assist with payment plans and resources.
  • Collaborate with care team to support patient access and reduce financial toxicity.
