  • Case finding, abstracting, follow-up, and monitoring of Cancer Registry.
  • Delivering outstanding patient experiences while collaborating within a team.

Job Summary

Responsible for any combination of Cancer Registry functions including, but not limited to: case finding, abstracting, follow-up, monitoring, and statistical reporting of all reportable benign and malignant neoplasms diagnosed or treated within the Novant Health Cancer Institute.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 1-5 years’ experience with ODS obtained prior to 2010, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, required. 1-2 years’ experience with ODS, required.
  • Experience:1-5 years with HS/GED. Experience in Cancer Registry, Medical Records, Nursing, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Public Health, Research, required. 1-2 years with Associate. Experience in Cancer Registry, Medical Records, Nursing, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Public Health, Research, required.
  • Licensure/Certification:CTR, required.
  • Additional Skills (required):
    • Advanced level of medical terminology.
    • Completion of Anatomy and Physiology.
    • Basic Statistics and Epidemiology.
    • Oncology knowledge of the disease process, including standards of care; surgical, radiation, and systemic treatment regimens.
    • Knowledge of the American College of Surgeons Cancer Program Standards. Coding Courses in ICD0-3, AJCC TNM Staging, SEER Summary Staging, Solid Tumor Rules and relevant state data collection manuals.Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy wit Medical Staff, Novant Departments, private physician practices, and non-Novant facilities to obtain patient information resolve staging or coding issues.
  • Additional Skills (preferred):Experience with Electronic Registry Systems Inc. registry software, Epic, Webplus (NC Data Reporting portal), QPort (Commission on Cancer quality portal); working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
