Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking a pharmacist to oversee pharmaceutical care, educate patients and caregivers, and design patient-specific pharmacotherapy regimens. The role includes reviewing orders, participating in emergencies, and supporting medication safety initiatives.

You will collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure formulary adherence, manage non-formulary and investigational medications, and mentor residents and staff while ensuring compliance with all regulations.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist degree from ACPE‑accredited school of pharmacy.
• FPGEC/NABP is acceptable.
• Licensed in the state or eligible for reciprocity.

Responsibilities

• Oversees pharmaceutical care, including retrieving and evaluating biomedical literature and designing medication therapy regimens.
• Provides counseling to patients and caregivers on medication therapy, adverse effects, compliance, handling, and administration.
• Designs, monitors, and evaluates patient-specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens and implements recommendations.
• Reviews and interprets medication orders and prescriptions accurately.
• Participates in medical emergencies and supports medication safety and quality improvement activities.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team to manage formulary adherence and medication-use processes; assists in acquiring non-formulary or investigational meds.
• Complies with organizational policies and state/federal regulations; ensures proper storage and handling of medications.
• Serves as a preceptor and mentors pharmacy staff, residents, and students; supervises support team to ensure safe workflows.
