Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a Clinical Nurse for a 36-hour oncology unit. Provides competent nursing care, coordinating patient care using the nursing process and working under the Nurse Manager/Director.

Reports to the Oncology unit leadership and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care in a hospital setting. The role requires graduation from a professional nursing program and RN licensure in North Carolina, with BLS certification; at least 1

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Education - Identifies and meets learning needs of self; attends education programs; uses patient education materials; assesses readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes; participates in evaluation of patient care with the interdisciplinary team; communicates information to promote continuity of care.
• Implementation - Demonstrates competent care for patients with complex problems; performs bedside point of care testing as required; organizes and prioritizes care.
• Leadership - Develops goals for professional growth; promotes collaboration; supports unit goals and performance improvement.
• Patient Assessment - Recognizes data to determine priorities; assesses needs; supports discharge planning.
• Planning - Collaborates with patient/family to plan care; uses multidisciplinary resources; identifies cultural/ethnic issues.
• Research - Reads journals for applicable studies; shares ideas with staff for applicability.

Education

Graduation from a school of professional nursing

Bachelor's degree in Nursing within seven years
