Job summary

Baptist Health Floyd’s Cancer Center Location in New Albany, IN is seeking a full-time Oncology Breast Nurse Navigator. The role focuses on patient education, care coordination, and advocacy to support breast cancer patients through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

Qualifications include a BSN, active Indiana or compact RN license, at least two years in oncology nursing, and Oncology Nursing Certification within one year. Prior Charge Nurse or Supervisory experience is a plus. EOE.

Responsibilities

• The Oncology Nurse Navigator educates patients and families, coordinates care across services, and advocates to improve the breast cancer care experience.
• Works with physicians, radiologists, surgeons, and other teams to support patients from prevention and detection through treatment and survivorship.
• Provides guidance and referrals within the cancer care continuum to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.

Job Duties:

The Oncology Nurse Navigator is a patient educator, care coordinator, system navigator, and patient advocate with the mission to improve the care experience for breast cancer patients at Baptist Health Floyd. The Oncology Nurse Navigator works collaboratively with the patient and their support system, referring physicians, radiologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, palliative medicine physicians, cancer registry, outcomes department, clinical research staff, in-patient and outpatient care areas, community education and other healthcare professionals to support the breast patient from prevention and early detection through diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and survival plan of care.

Qualifications:

Graduate of an approved nursing program with a BSN required.

Current Indiana or compact state RN license required.

Two (2) years of oncology nursing experience required.

Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN, AOCN, AOCNS, or AOCNP) within one (1) year of employment required.

Experience as a Charge Nurse or Supervisor preferred.
